I’ve heard people emphasize that when it comes to victory over sin, it’s not about our effort; rather, it’s all about what Jesus does for us. But there’s a problem. When we read the Bible, we see that God actually does tell us to do things.

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows” (Galatians 6:7). God help us to examine carefully our thoughts and lives, the daily choices we make, and the little compromises that cumulatively become moral disasters. 

I’m convinced that the Bible is clear that though we will have freedom to choose in Heaven, we will have no ability to sin. Consider Revelation 21:4-5.

In the journal she kept throughout her cancer years, Nanci wrote these reflections about the healing Jesus accomplished on the cross: “I needed, and have received in full measure, a healing from my guilt and sins. No physical healing compares to complete spiritual healing.”

Randy points out Scripture that answers the question of whether or not there will be the opportunity to sin in Heaven.

How to handle sin in a God-honoring way isn’t often clearly addressed in the church. So what steps should I take in order to deal with sin? First, I must admit my sin to myself. I need to call sin what it is: sin, not just a mistake or a little slip.
