Malgré tous mes efforts pour comprendre aux mieux les Écritures, ma compréhension est loin d'être complète, et elle est sans doute incorrecte sur certains points. Mais si le lecteur étudie assidûment les passages bibliques mentionnés dans cet article, il se peut qu'il découvre, à sa surprise (et à son délice, ou à son inconfort), que certaines de ses propres idées et hypothèses sur le Ciel ne sont en fait pas bibliques. Dans sa réflexion, il acquerra une compréhension beaucoup plus grande sur ce sujet vital.

Dios nunca garantiza que la vida cristiana sea fácil. De hecho, promete lo contrario: "Todos los que deseen vivir piadosamente en Cristo Jesús sufrirán persecución" (2 Timoteo 3:12, NKJV). No debemos sorprendernos cuando enfrentamos grandes dificultades (ver 1 Pedro 4:12).

Papás (y gran parte de esto también aplica a las mamás), si ya están pasando mucho tiempo con sus hijos, concéntrense en la calidad. We do not just need the individual pearls of truths; we need the string that ties them together. Without the larger picture of God’s unfolding drama of redemption, and without systematic theology, pastors are constantly throwing out pearls to people, but they have no string to put them on and hold them together, and keep them in relation to each other.

Solo deberíamos tener la mayor confianza en lo que Dios ha prometido en una forma clara, fundamental, y absoluta. Y si a causa de esto se disminuye nuestra gratitud, el problema no son las promesas de Dios, sino nuestras expectativas. Si esperamos que Dios haga nuestra vida fácil, nuestras expectativas no son bíblicas.
