This is a very hard question that many in and out of church leadership ask. Although there is no explicit biblical position, I believe it is implicit because of at least two New Testament passages. 

The Bible gives us no direct instruction regarding modern vacations so believers are left to exercise godly wisdom and discernment to act in ways aligned with Scripture.

To turn the tide of materialism in the Christian community, we desperately need bold models of kingdom-centered living.

How can we teach our children the emptiness of materialism in a direct and memorable way? Take them to visit a dump or junkyard. It can actually be a great family event.
