This year in October (2009), it will be twenty-eight years since my mom died of cancer. Our Angela was only four months old then, so while Mom held Angie and fawned over her and loved her dearly, Angie wasn't old enough yet to understand what had happened. 

December 7, this Sunday, is the 40th anniversary of the day Nanci and I met. We were freshmen in high school. It was a double date in which we went to see two new movies at Portland's Village Theatre on 122nd.

The word endure means to stand firm, and that is the theme of this book. We are to stand firm. We’re not to be carried about by every wind of doctrine theologically

It’s been a while since I showed pics of our grandchildren. Many of you have endured sleepless nights wondering when I was going to get back to them. Now you can relax and breathe again.

Over years of biblical study, my view of resurrection and the eternal Heaven (and to a lesser degree, the intermediate Heaven) gradually changed. 

This was our first Christmas with family numbered in double digits. Nanci and I are deeply grateful for our wonderful daughters, our awesome sons-in-law and our four priceless grandsons. Including Jack, little Santa.  

I was just finishing up a different blog when Carol Hardin called and reminded us that today, October 8, is the 15th anniversary of Jerry’s death. Jerry and I were best friends in grade school and high school. I wrote about him in my book In Light of Eternity. I gave him a whole chapter.  

At 9:00 PM Thursday, I got a phone call from Nanci as I was putting grandson Matthew Franklin to bed in the room that once was his mother’s. As Nanci talked, in the background was a loud cry, out of the mouth of Jack Timothy Franklin. Jack had just come into the world at 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and 19.5 inches.

Unlike authors who, after landing their first contract, find themselves on a runaway treadmill trying to churn out one manuscript after another, often on topics about which they have no passion, Randy Alcorn has cleared a different path.
