Question from Reader: In chapter 35 of Heaven, you talk about being reunited with infants who die. It seems in the beginning of this section that you are defending the idea that the presence of any sin in our children (which they are born into) will mean they are not saved.  Then later on, it seems you are saying that God may cover them with Christ’s blood despite the fact that they can’t confess their belief.  So, I think your stance is that children who die before they can confess their Savior may be saved.  But it’s not clear. Can you clarify?

Question from Reader: Does the promise of a New Heaven and a New Earth necessitate new planets, or is that a leap of imagination?

It sounds like where the tension comes in is whether or not you should observe the Sabbath on Saturday or Sunday. Paul actually addresses this very issue in Romans 14.

I believe the spirit leaves the body when true death happens, and that true death isn’t the same as “he hasn’t been responsive for months” or “we can’t detect brainwaves.”

Question from a reader: After 16 years of cruel, emotional, mental, and illegal abuse ending in divorce by desertion from an unbeliever, may I (the victim) ever remarry? First Corinthians 7:15 says that I am no longer under bondage, but does it mean I may remarry? I am so burdened about this. Please will you give me some insight?

While Scripture does not say as much as we’d like about circumstance-control, it says a great deal more than we like about self-control. 

One hundred million extremely underprivileged and street children struggle for existence in today’s cities. One hundred million! Are these children trash? Local businessmen in Brazil call them “Vermin, garbage. If we let them grow up, they will be criminals, a blight on our society.”

Left to myself, I don’t think straight. I believe the lies that are currently popular. God gives me His truth as a moral compass, a reference point to guide me.

God gives each of us a race to run. To finish well we must develop perseverance. The Christian life is not a hundred-meter dash but a marathon, requiring patience, endurance, and discipline. But how do we find the strength to finish our race well?
