Nanci and I often read The Valley of Vision, or listen to it (Max Maclean does an excellent audio version).  These are brief and profound Puritan prayers. We find them powerful and penetrating.

A “pro-choice” film called “The Gift of Choice” claims that the unborn is “a probability of a future person.” But what’s actually left after an abortion are small but perfectly formed body parts—arms and legs, hands and feet, torso and head.

Do you have five minutes to sit back and listen to a song and watch an animation about the gospel? I’ve listened to it a couple times and it moved me to worship our God of grace.

In light of the 112th Congress opening today, here is the prayer that opened the First Continental Congress on September 7, 1774.  

Gratitude never comes from avoiding difficulty, but from finding yourself sustained through it.

I remember when I was growing up in the Orient area, near Gresham Oregon, just two miles from where I live now. I enjoyed sledding and especially loved those Christmases when it was snowing (which was a number of them, though not as many as I would have liked).

Proverbs 31:8-9 says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Who is more poor and needy, more incapable of speaking up for themselves than these unborn children, created in the image of God?
