I've read your book In Light Of Eternity (in Russian) and I was deeply impressed by the profundity of theses you've advanced. The book was a real blessing for me because you've vividly depicted the meaning of our today's life deeds in the light of eternity.

My friend Tim Challies recently placed a ten minute video on his blog, documenting what happened earlier in 2010: the receiving of the completed translated New Testament by the Kimyal Tribe in Papua, Indonesia.

When the following was posted last month on the Desiring God blog, written by Michael Oh, I was very touched by it. Read it, ponder it, pray over it. 

I love the Logos Scholar’s Library. It’s been great for years, and it’s improving  all the time. 

“Bah Humbug!” you say. “I may love Jesus, but you can have these commercial Christmases. And if I hear one more sappy rendition of Frosty the Snowman, I’m going to lose my mind!”

I remember when I was growing up in the Orient area, near Gresham Oregon, just two miles from where I live now. I enjoyed sledding and especially loved those Christmases when it was snowing (which was a number of them, though not as many as I would have liked).

Proverbs 31:8-9 says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Who is more poor and needy, more incapable of speaking up for themselves than these unborn children, created in the image of God? 

It’s easy to see the wonderful, amazing things in life as love gifts. But let me tell you, it’s much harder to see the difficult and downright horrible things in life as gifts.

When I counsel with people who struggle with deep feelings of shame, guilt, and regret, I sometimes suggest that they design a personalized liturgy.

It is God’s will that you be active in life-long ministry, in your church. You are called to edify, build up and encourage a local body of believers by utilizing your own unique giftings by the power of the Spirit. How are you to be equipped for this ministry? Through the ministry of the local church itself.

We’d like to share with you just a few of the ways the book royalties have been used to make a difference in the world—and for eternity. 

Oh that Christians, the very best of them, were not so slack in following! Some stop to trifle with the perishable things of earth. Some stop to pick up the gaudy, scentless flowers by the wayside. Some stop to sleep, forgetting this is not our rest, it is enchanted ground.

2010 marked the 20th anniversary of Eternal Perspective Ministries, the nonprofit ministry I founded in 1990.
