God gave Lucifer a capacity of true free choice which involved the possibility of sin. It is possible for a being with free choice—even living in a perfect environment and without having some exterior temptation, such as Satan provided for Adam and Eve in the garden—to make a choice contrary to God’s will.

Question from a reader: I am an 8th grade student and my teacher has assigned us a reading project about any book of our choice. I have chosen to read your book Deadline. I am not the kind of person who enjoys reading very much, but your book has really caught my attention. As part of my assignment, I would like to ask you how did you come up with the idea for this story?

Much of the confusion about what will take place in heaven is because most people don't think of heaven as the "New Earth." It's on the new earth that we will do earthly things. Unless teaching and writing are evil (part of the curse) or scripture says there will be no teaching or writing on the new earth, then there will be. Human beings who have bodies do things to the glory of God such as eat, drink, talk, think, communicate, rest, work, etc. so there would be writing books, reading books and teaching.

I learned to love reading through comic books Archie and Richie, Rich and Marvel (esp. Fantastic Four). But I was a DC fan, my favorites being The Justice League of America (Green Lantern was my hero) and The Legion of Super Heroes (go, Lightning Lad). From there I dove into science fiction and fantasy, spending my nights looking through my telescope, then coming to bed freezing cold and reading science fiction by flashlight under my covers, so Mom wouldn’t see the light on. Your lack of feeling in relationship to the Lord could be related to some damaged emotions somewhere in your past. It is helpful to evaluate this area (not to cast blame, but to gain an understanding and add insight into why you may be experiencing what you are. 

And among those that translate word for word, the ESV is more literary and readable; the NASB is not quite as good English, but still accurate as a word for word translation. A person reading a passage looking for key terms that repeat, then a NASB would be better. If you are trying to understand the passage as a whole, then the ESV is better.

My heart goes out to you and the pain you are experiencing. You're grieving a loss right now and I’m sure you have many mixed emotions. 

I think you should do what you can to get accurate apologetic information to your pastor that shows the Bible's reliability. 

have severe bipolar disorder and am unable to go off my medication if I become pregnant. How do medications for this disorder affect pregnancy, or should I even consider having children? The situation you describe is obviously anguishing for you.  I can well imagine that the advice doctors may have given you was based on their concern that any medicine you take for your bipolar disorder would cause birth defects or irreparable harm to a pregnancy.

The Bible speaks of two separate judgments: the judgment of faith, and the judgment of works. The judgment of faith determines our inheritance, whereas the judgment of works determines our recompense.

We know by the context.

While we believe in a salvation that is secure, bought and paid for by Christ alone and not by our works, we do not subscribe to the fire insurance/cheap grace/easy believism notion that all who raise a hand or repeat a prayer at one moment in their lives are automatically truly born again.
