I contacted my pastor about using a bulletin insert regarding Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. He responded by saying “the Lord has called us to keep things simple, and focus on the Bible.” How would you respond to this?

You sound like a great mom who really desires to lead and train her children in the ways of the Lord. My heart goes out to you as you have to bear this responsibility without your husband’s help and support.

I’d respectfully explain that watching such movies violates my beliefs, and ask for an alternative assignment to make up for the time I miss.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. . . . Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.” Jesus Christ Matthew 25:40, 45

This chapter will address the recipients of giving, fundraising methods, the proper use of funds, and how to identify worthy ministries.

If it comes down to it, biblically I think we’d do better to “err” on the side of generosity, not stinginess.
